Attorney at law Lucija Vranešević Grbić, is the author of an article published in the New York State Bar Association’s One on One journal (Vol. 47, No. 1, 2026), examining how the EU AI Act’s risk-based, extraterritorial framework applies to AI-powered chatbots.

The article looks at why many businesses default to treating chatbots as low-risk without checking the specific triggers that can raise that classification, sets out the Act’s compliance timeline running through August 2027, and explains the obligations that follow for providers and deployers regardless of where they are established.
